Why Mental Health Matters in Construction
Construction has the highest suicide rates of any industry. We protect our bodies with PPE - it's time to protect our minds with the same dedication. Mental health isn't weakness; it's professional safety.
- Mental health affects job performance and safety
- Early intervention prevents serious problems
- Seeking help shows strength, not weakness

QPR Training: Question, Persuade, Refer
QPR is like CPR for mental health crises. Learn the three simple steps that can save a life.
Question
Ask directly: "Are you thinking about killing yourself?" It shows you care and won't put the idea in their head.
Persuade
Persuade them to get help. Listen without judgment, show you care, and emphasize that help is available.
Refer
Help them connect with appropriate resources. Don't try to be their counselor - get professional help.
Remember: Seeking Help is a Sign of Strength
In construction, we work as a team to keep each other safe. Mental health is no different. Looking out for yourself and your colleagues is part of being a professional.
If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to your nearest emergency department.
